Reliable measurement technology in the harsh environments of gravel and cement plants
Initial situation
A manufacturer of high-precision measurement technology for gravel and cement plants was facing a recurring problem: the quality of its DC power supply was inadequate. Both the stability of the mains voltage and the reliability of the measurement electronics in use were compromised by the extreme on-site conditions.
Production facilities in remote regions, in particular, are often affected by long cable runs and fluctuating loads – factors that can have a significant impact on the mains voltage. As a result, precise measurements and reliable plant operation could no longer be guaranteed at all times.
Our solution: Two-stage voltage optimisation for maximum stability
In order to ensure a reliable and uninterrupted power supply to the measurement equipment, a two-stage solution was implemented:
- Transtector – Magnetic voltage stabiliser
The Transtector significantly reduces mains disturbances and provides a consistently stable AC voltage, even under difficult environmental conditions. It offers long-term protection for electronic equipment against voltage fluctuations and transient disturbances. - Precision AC/DC power supply
The second step involves the use of a programmable DC power supply – with precisely controllable voltage and current. Among other things, this supplies power to the illumination system of a spectrometer, which is essential for reproducible, high-quality measurement results.
Combining the two systems results in a highly efficient and robust power supply solution that is specifically designed for harsh industrial environments.
