Power Supplies for Spectroscopy

Application

Power Supplies for Spectroscopy

Color Spectroscopy
Use of power supplies to power various light sources.

Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (AES / ICP-AES / OES)
Requires power supplies to generate (ignite) and stabilize plasmas.

Mass Spectrometry
Uses high-voltage power supplies to accelerate and separate ions; requirements vary depending on the measurement method and application.

Power Sources in Particle Accelerators

Application

Power Sources in Particle Accelerators

Research institutions use our products in and for particle accelerators.

Some examples:

  • MMS-System modules are used to test detector elements for accelerators during manufacturing.
  • The MICC-System is used for the accelerator section of a linear accelerator.
  • EHQ-Modules are used for beam deflection.
Industrial and Commercial

Industrial and Commercial

AIP supplies machinery and plant manufacturers with components for their end products as well as for in-production testing systems. Most of our customers operate in industries where precision and quality are essential for success in the marketplace.

X-ray Applications

Application

X-ray Applications

High-voltage power supplies from the EPS and HPS series—with the appropriate options—are ideal for powering X-ray tubes. The required heating power supply (for cathode- or anode-grounded tubes) can be integrated directly.

System Features (Example):

  • Voltage stability up to 0.01%, low residual ripple
  • Temperature coefficient < 30 ppm/K
  • ARC management, including detection and protection
  • Interlock safety system
  • Separate power connections for control and power units
  • Integrated, potential-free heating supply (up to 80 kV)
  • Direct heating current control or configurable emission control
  • Adjustable min./max. heating currents
  • Additional low-voltage outputs at high-voltage potential (e.g., for Wehnelt cylinders)
  • HV generator and heating supply programmable via USB

The devices can be easily integrated into the plant control system—via analog interfaces or digital protocols such as Ethernet, CAN, IEEE-488, or RS232.
